This gallery contains photographs from four of the five centuries-old seaside villages of the Cinque Terre (Five Lands) and seven additional villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the towns, colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep hillsides and any remaining space is terraced to grow the olives, lemons and basil along with a dazzling array of other fruit and vegetables. You could even say the tall and skinny houses are terraced, with narrow passageways that serve as streets and stone steps flowing from level to level. Harbors are filled with brightly painted wooden fishing boats and trattorias and fancy restaurants turn out seafood specialties along with the Liguria region’s famous sauce, pesto.  The Cinque Terre is prime for fantastic photo opportunities and one of my favorite places.
